Privacy Policy
How IEP Progress handles information on iepprogress.org and in the IEP Assistant app.
Last updated
This Privacy Policy describes how IEP Progress (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit iepprogress.org, read our blog, or use the IEP Assistant application at app.iepprogress.org.
Who this applies to
This policy is written for teachers and other adults who use our marketing site and product. Our service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Information you provide
- Account data — email address and password (or sign-in provider) when you create an account in the app.
- Product content — student profiles (initials only), session notes, and generated narrative drafts you choose to save in the app.
- Support messages — information you send when you contact us at [email protected].
Information collected automatically
On the marketing site we use Google Analytics to understand traffic and page performance. We may also use Google AdSense to display ads. These services may set cookies and collect device and usage data as described in our Cookie Policy.
In the app we collect standard server and security logs (for example IP address, browser type, and timestamps) to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the website and app.
- Generate narrative drafts from the notes you submit in the app.
- Process subscriptions and respond to billing questions when you choose a paid plan.
- Send product or account messages you request or that are required for the service.
- Detect abuse, fraud, and security issues.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
AI processing
When you generate a narrative in the app, your submitted notes are sent to our AI provider to produce a draft response. We configure this processing so your content is not used to train public models. You are responsible for reviewing every draft before using it in official district records.
Student data and FERPA
The product is designed for teacher workflows: use student initials only, not full names or directory information. You remain responsible for following your district’s policies, FERPA obligations, and any data-processing agreements that apply to your use of third-party tools.
We do not sell student information. We do not use saved narratives or notes to train AI models.
Sharing
We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us host, secure, bill, email, or process AI requests (under contractual limits).
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- A successor entity if the business is transferred, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
Retention and deletion
You can delete narratives and your account from the app settings. When you delete your account, we remove associated product data from active systems, subject to limited backup retention and legal holds.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices
- Export your data from app settings.
- Delete narratives or your entire account from app settings.
- Control marketing cookies via browser settings and, where offered, consent tools (see Cookies).
- Contact us to ask questions or request access, correction, or deletion where applicable law provides those rights.
International users
We operate from the United States. If you access the service from elsewhere, you understand that information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
